A lifelong Newport Beach resident, Erik Weigand is proud to serve the community he has always called home. Erik attended Mariners Elementary, Ensign Intermediate, and Newport Harbor High School before graduating from Chapman University with a degree in Criminal Justice. His family’s roots in public service run deep—his father served as a Newport Beach Police Officer, and his mother retired from the Newport Beach Police Department after more than three decades of service.

Before being elected to the City Council, Erik served six years on the Newport Beach Planning Commission, where he gained valuable experience protecting the character of the city while planning responsibly for its future. With more than two decades of legislative and public policy experience, Erik brings a thoughtful, consensus-driven approach to local leadership.

As your Councilmember, Erik is focused on protecting Newport Beach’s quality of life, strengthening public safety, addressing homelessness, and standing up to Sacramento mandates that threaten local control.
